Our Story

In 1994, John started The Petting Zoo with just three bears and a big dream, taking on the role of Chief Teddy Bear Salesman. Soon after, his brother JoRoy - our Master of Toys - joined him, and together, they built a thriving, multi-generational family business.

The Lizewski family ensures each toy is brought to life with care and creativity, from sketch to stitch. Customers are delighted, and families are inspired. For over 30 years, The Petting Zoo has been serving the world’s most trusted zoos, parks, and aquariums - and bringing joy to families everywhere.

Rooted in the belief that employees are family, The Petting Zoo is dedicated to spreading joy, nurturing curiosity, and inspiring a love for nature through every toy we make.

While our name is changing, our heart remains the same.
